I have included some useful information below for simple guidelines for jewelry care. Over the years there have been several times, when I have a special piece of jewelry in mind to wear only to find the item tarnished in my jewelry box. We simply don't want little setbacks like this to keep you from feeling wonderful and wearing that special piece.
Sterling Silver
All of my pieces are made of solid Sterling Silver. This includes all findings and wire, unless the item is designated as Vermeil, in which case all findings and wire are of the same quality.
To prevent oxidation of your silver pieces (which occurs naturally when silver meets air) store your jewelry in a little zip lock bag. Doing this will preserve the beauty of your piece.
Vermeil
Vermeil is 24kt gold over Sterling Silver. Vermeil is an excellent jewelry material because it combines two precious metals - gold (or sometimes platinum) and silver. Vermeil jewelry should not tarnish easily. However, like all silver and karat gold jewelry, care should be taken not to expose your vermeil to corrosive substances or soaps that increase the chance of a chemical reaction. Vermeil jewelry should be stored in a way that it will not be scratched or damaged by other pieces. To clean vermeil jewelry, we suggested that you polish pieces with a soft cloth. Do not use any silver cleaners or abrasives
Patina
If a patina(oxidized) has been added to Sterling Silver, this will create an antiqued or dark finish. If you would like to preserve this finish you must not clean your jewelry with any anti-tarnish liquids or anti-tarnish cloth of any kind. If you would like to clean your patina jewelry use a soft clean cloth to lightly buff the surface.
